Balthazar Estate |
Balthazar Estate was established nine years ago, when a small group of people with a passion for wine got together and purchased 30 acres in the Gimblett Gravels, with the objective of creating wines of exceptional quality. That objective is steadily becoming a reality and Balthazar Estate is now into its sixth vintage.
Balthazar Estate wines are all produced from grapes 100% of which are grown on our 30 acre block of land, right on the corner of Gimblett Road in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Balthazar Estate is planted predominantly with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot and a smaller acreage in Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay.
Our mission is to produce small vintages of supreme quality, distinctively “Balthazar” Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Chardonnay wines. The team behind Balthazar Estate are committed to excellence and focussed on creating outstanding wines. Balthazar wines are not generally available commercially, although you will find it in a number of restaurants throughout NZ, selected fine wine establishments and also through direct purchase.
Balthazar boasts three cultivar wines and a blended red of excellent quality, all of our wine has classical refinement and contemporary flavour.
