Grasshopper Rock Wine
A single vineyard wine producer dedicated to the production of quality Pinot Noir.

Grasshopper Rock is a small Central Otago wine producer, dedicated to the production of first class, single vineyard Pinot Noir. In establishing the vineyard, we searched for land that would provide the best conditions for consistently producing a premium Pinot Noir in a classic Central Otago style. The site needed to have high sunshine hours and mean temperatures and also be sufficiently harsh and difficult to make the vines work their hardest. With Central Otago extremes of heat and cold comes the risk of late spring and autumn frosts, and so good water for frost fighting is also essential to consistently produce a premium product.

The land we chose is situated on Earnscleugh Road, across the Clutha River from Alexandra.

Our first vintage was harvested in 2006, bottled in March 2007.
