Alan McCorkindale, consultant oenologist and winemaker, with twenty-four years of international winemaking experience, produces wines from New Zealand's Marlborough and Waipara Valley wine regions. With a minimalist grape growing and winemaking philosophy, style and innovation are created in these wines, fresh and clean, a bold statement that is New Zealand - Aotearoa.A close-planted French-style vineyard has been developed in the Waipara Valley on a sloping site with limestone soils. Alan McCorkindale specialises in methode champenoise wines made from grapes grown in the limestone rich soils of the Waipara Valley region. Painstaking adherence to traditional Champagne methods, such as hand-harvesting, whole bunch pressing, blending only the cuvee juice fraction, barrel fermentation and four years lees ageing, coupled with innovation and style have produced classic New Zealand methode traditionelle. In addition to the sparkling wine, parcels of premium grapes from Waipara Valley and Marlborough vineyards have been selected to produce a limited-edition range of table wines. Attention to the tiniest details is the key to the quality of these wines, hand-harvested at maximum flavour intensity, gently pressed and fermented using a blend of modern technology and traditional methods to produce wines of quality and style. |
