As ex-farmers and restaurateurs it seemed natural for Russell and Kumiho Black to progress from fine food to fine wine producers, in particular the classical varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.The Vineyard The site with rich limestone soils and sloping to the North-West is a suntrap. Zero to absolutely minimum irrigation has forced the vines to develop a deep and extensive root system and this combined with the best vineyard practice and low cropping results in fruit of high flavour and ripeness. This fruit, in the hands of winemaker Mark Rattray produces wine with great intensity, power and balance. |
