Berridge Vineyard Estates |
In 2000, American-born landscape architect Richard Berridge came to New Zealand on honeymoon with his new wife Mary, discovered the wine, fell in love with the landscape and decided to buy vineyard land. He already had an interest in Duckhorn Winery in Napa and its specialist Pinot Noir Goldeneye Winery in Anderson Valley, California, and now has 200 hectares in Gibbston and Pisa.
To get production under way while new vineyards are being planted, Richard has bought the Drystone label and a leasehold agreement covering 19 hectares of vineyards in Gibbston and Bannockburn. About 80% of Berridge Vineyard's Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Gris currently produced is exported. |
