Firstly, there's the landscape: situated on flat to gentle north facing slopes Prospect has extensive views of Roys Hill to the north, the Raukawa Range to the south and the Ruahine and Kaweka ranges to the west.
Secondly, the potential: Our soil contains iron rich red metals or stones covered in light shallow silt that are highly desirable for grape growing. The free draining characteristics of alluvial soils (where once the ancient NgaRuro river flowed) allow us to carefully 'moisture stress' the vines to produce concentrated well ripened fruit. And the favourable ratio of stones results in wines with depth and elegance. |
