With our founding vineyards established in 1991, Mt Difficulty is one of the oldest and most respected wineries in the Central Otago region. Situated in Bannockburn, a unique and rare area of extremes, Mt Difficulty has harnessed the once brutal landscape to produce premium wines at the forefront of Central Otago’s wine production.
Comprised of seven separate vineyards in the Bannockburn area, Mt Difficulty has the rare luxury of the different terroirs, producing wines that are making the most of the superb regional characteristics culminating in Award winning wines.
Varieties we produce include the regions flagship, Pinot Noir, often designated under three labels – Roaring Meg, Mt Difficulty and Single Vineyard. On the white wine front we have the ever popular Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay along with Riesling, which are often, bottled in three styles – dry, medium and a late harvest.
