Melness Wines
Melness Wines founded in 1990 by Norma and Colin Marshall. Our small vineyard is situated to the north west side of the Canterbury Plains where hot nor'westerly winds and cool nights have consistently produced medal winning wines.
The Name 'Melness' was chosen in remembrance of Norma's grandfather, David Paton McKay, who settled on banks peninsula in the 1860's. He was born in the far north of Scotland, in the small coastel village of Melness. The winemakers, Lynnette Hudson and Matthew Donaldson of Pegasus Bay, have combined grapes grown from the Melness, Canterbury, Waipara, and Marlbourough vineyards, to produce excellent wines in each vintage, for your enjoyment.
