Margrain Vineyard
The Margrain Vineyard, planted in 1992, was born from the passion for fine wine, good food and the country lifestyle held by owners Daryl and Graham Margrain. While running a successful Wellington business, they were looking for a new focus when they recognised the potential that Martinborough held for the establishment of a top quality winery, accommodation and conference complex.

From the outset, the company's aim has been to grow top quality grapes and produce wines of excellence. In pursuit of this goal no compromise has been made.

The 4 hectare vineyard was planted in 1992 using only the most successful grape varieties and clones grown from the Martinborough region.

Three years later the first wines from the estate were produced in 1995, coinciding with the opening of the Margrain Vineyard Villas, eight luxury accommodation units set on the edge of the picturesque terrace vineyard.
