Known for its distinctive French-provincial style, French Farm, idyllically overlooking Akaroa Harbour, has been an ongoing success story following its opening in 1991. The impressive buildings have a grand French Provincial style about them as does the selection and quality of cuisine, and French Farm wines. The mature trees and French Farm stream running alongside just adds to the charm. And wherever you look, there is always a stunning view of Akaroa Harbour.
Located in a valley providing natural shelter, French Farm and its 8ha of vineyards have their own microclimate, which attracted the first French settlers to the area as prime land for wine making & so they planted the first grapes in the area many years ago. Since that time French Farm has been the first to continue the wine making traditions of the French and in 1989, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes were planted. Varieties have since expanded to include Merlot, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewurztraminer. |
