Greystone Gewurztraminer 2010
This German variety shows amazing promise in the Waipara Valley. Exquisite perfumed nose, unctuous textured palate, all lifted lycees and rose petals-yum!
Producer: Greystone Wines
Harvest Date: 15 April 2010
Winemaker Notes: The fruit was clean and once again had stunning flavours therefore the juice was not fined prior to fermentation. We chilled the new wine once it was balanced in an off-dry style and then bottled without fining. The wine shows structure and balance despite its soft and textural palate.
Viticulture Notes: The Greystone Gewurztraminer was planted on the Western end of a North-West facing block on gentle slopes that enjoy good heat accumulation, but also experience the cool nights of a Waipara Valley summer. Fruit thinning and careful bunch selection, at harvest time, provided us with only the ripest clusters. Density 2500 vines/Ha on VSP two cane trellis.
