Selected Sauvignon Blanc parcels were chosen and carefully harvested. Fruit was destemmed, gently pressed and the juice was cool fermented with selected yeasts to maximise and retain as much varietal flavour and aroma as possible. Lees aging has helped develop the palate weight and further enhanced the intensity and structure of this wine. |
| Viticulture Notes |
Marlborough experienced a drier than normal growing season, helping keep disease levels very low. The warmer night nighttime temperatures as opposed to higher daytime temperatures caused the growing degree-days to be slightly higher than the long-term average. This led to an early harvest of our Sauvignon Blanc fruit, allowing us to capture the ideal vineyard flavours.
The vineyards that provide the fruit for this wine are situated in both the Awatere and Waihopai Valleys of Marlborough. The Vineyards are managed to ensure ripe and clean fruit. Timely canopy management activities, such as shoot thinning and leaf plucking, along with the attention given to vine health optimise the opportunity for ideal vineyard flavours at harvest. |
