| Winemakers Notes |
|
Regular rainfall in the early to mid season resulted in very strong growing conditions. The Indian summer extended our ripening period. This 'Reserve' quality Merlot is produced from grapes harvested from our oldest vines located in a silty segment of our Gimblett Road vineyards. Traditional warm fermentation along with regular cap management extracted optimum colour, aroma and flavour. Barrique fermentation added complexity to the fruit and yeast components to produce a textured, rich wine. Barrel maturation has integrated and balanced the complex characteristics gained from fruit, tannin, oak and fermentation. 467 days barrel maturation in new French and American barriques. |
