TW Viogner 2005 |
| Wine Description |
|
This elegant varietal has been barrel fermented and then tank integrated to maintain perfect balance of fruit and oak expressing the flavours from Gisborne's famed Golden slope terroir. |
| Winemakers Notes |
Paul and Geordie have hand picked a small volume of their exceptionally ripe Viognier with optimum fruit character. This elegant varietal has been barrel fermented and then tank integrated to maintain perfect balance of fruit and oak expressing the flavours from Gisborne's famed Golden slope terroir.
This wine was fermented in 3 year old French barriques, under a medium temperature ferment reaching 18 degrees at the hottest point. This fattens out the palate, giving oiliness and richness to the wine. The wine spent 8 weeks on lees, being stirred every week giving richness complexity. |

| Tasting
Note: |
This straw golden wine somewhat reminds at a Condrieu from the Rhône valley with aromas of peachy spice, mandarin citrus and hints of cassis and elderberry. Good concentration with hints of toasty oak and honey nicely balance by the acidity. Quite full bodied wine with considerable grip and length. |

Alpha Domus Semillon 2004 |
 |
| Tasting
Note: |
Ripe pear and melon scents with hints of lime. The mealy characters reflect the time on the lees. Subtle oak enhances the composition of this wine. Fresh limes and pear with lovely fruit sweetness show early on the palate. The wine has silky texture and some sweet flavours derived from time on yeast lees. With time we expect to see some roundness and honeyed characters developing. |
