Gimblett Gravels fly high at Air New Zealand Wine Awards

Gimblett Gravels rounded off 2009 ‘show season’ with 3 more trophies for red wines at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards.

These trophies were the consequence of a clean sweep of gold medals awarded in the fuller bodied red categories - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Blends and Other Red Varieties.

The trophy winning wines were as follows:

Merlot Class
Villa Maria Reserve Merlot 2007

Cabernet Sauvignon and Blends Class
Mills Reef Elspeth Cabernet Merlot 2007

Other Red Varieties Class
Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Tempranillo 2008

Gimblett Gravels wines won 12 gold medals at the awards, in the above categories, Syrah, Viognier and Chardonnay.
