Mud House Wines Takes Home 16 Medals From 2008 Royal Easter Show Awards April 2008 The leading winery Mud House Wines has more accolades to add to its rapidly expanding awards cabinet, having received two gold, five silver, and nine bronze medals at this year’s Royal Easter Show Awards. The gold-medal wines were both 2007 Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs (Mud House and Haymaker by Mud House), with the winery receiving awards for several of its varietals and across the Hawkes Bay, Waipara and Marlborough regions.
This award builds on a year of success for Mud House Wines, which received honours for three varietals at the 2007 Air New Zealand Wine Awards, and is enjoying the international approbation of having a wine selected by a Master Sommelier for service onboard Delta Airlines, one of the world’s largest carriers. And to top off the good news, the team has just received word that renowned chef and restaurateur Rick Stein has selected the new gold-medallist 2007 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc for the wine list of his family of restaurants in Cornwall, UK.
Mud House Wines CEO Baden Ngan Kee said the 16 medals were a tremendous honour, and a validation of the hard work and skill of the Mud House Wines team.
“We have taken some important steps in the past year to develop our brand locally and internationally, and we are pleased that the quality of our wines is being recognized,” he said, pointing to the recent release of the winery’s three-tiered range, and the recruitment of several talented wine industry operators, including Chief Winemaker Ant Mackenzie, as examples of Mud House Wines’ growth.
The brand’s look has also undergone a makeover, recently unveiling a sharp new label design that Mr Ngan Kee says captures the zing and spice for which Mud House Wines is receiving honours.
“We will continue to work to create even better wines, and we hope to enjoy further awards success in the future.”
