Celebrity Chef Martin Harrap Live On Stage at Gourmet Experience

Gourmet Experience Hawke’s Bay announced today that Celebrity Chef and Salon Judge Martin Harrap will be one of the key presenters at Gourmet Experience to be held at the Pettigrew Green Arena on Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 April

Martin Harrap is the Director and Chef behind Indoor Dining, an Auckland company that fills a niche market of fine dining in your own home. This offers a unique occasion where the “restaurant experience” is brought to you.

Born and trained in the UK, Martin loves training young chefs and has an abiding interest in the history of fine foods. His collection of books on food now numbers over 400.

Martin has been a President of the New Zealand Chefs Association and is its National Ambassador. Other positions held by Martin include Vice-conseiller Culinaire, elect, of the exclusive Chaine des Rotisseurs, and Salon Director for Hospitality New Zealand.

In his current role of Chief Judge and Salon Director he will in 2008 be involved in judging events in Canada, Fiji, Singapore, Australia as well as New Zealand.

Martin can also be seen on the Food Channel, TV Channel 9, in the New Zealand Master Class Programme. Master Class is a dynamic new series exclusively for Food TV that showcases the smoking hot skills of some of this country’s top chefs. Every half hour episode is filled with a different personality, a different dish and a whole lot of colour and flavour. It’s spectacular food – but all within the reach of the typical NZ home chef. The series introduces 19 of NZ’s top chefs filmed in action at the 2007 Auckland Home Show’s Fisher & Paykel World Cooking Theatre.

“To have Martin as Chief Judge at the Hawke’s Bay Regional Salon Culinaire run in conjunction with Gourmet Experience is a huge honour for our local Hawke’s Bay event in just our 3rd year. And to now have Martin agree to present, live, on stage, for the public of Hawke’s Bay is a real bonus” a spokeman said today.

“Martin will be judging over both days and his live demonstration will be in the main Arena on the Sunday afternoon at around 2.30 pm. The exact time will be published in the programme prior to the event” he added
