| Winemakers Notes |
Once at the winery, fruit was chilled to 8 degrees in tank where it remained under inert gas cover for 4 days to extract a desired amount of colour from the skins. The juice was then removed from the skins and inoculated with an aromatic yeast strain, and fermentation was conducted at cool temperatures (10 - 12 degrees) in a stainless steel tank to maximise the aromatic qualities of the grape and vineyard. Post fermentation the wine was removed from its fermentation lees, then spent two months on light lees in tank before a light filtration in preparation for bottling in late August 2005.

| Viticulture Notes |
|
The 2005 harvest was akin to none that have passed before, with Marlborough’s traditional prevailing winds non existent, a relatively cool growing season, a stunning settled period and the inevitable end of the golden weather come late April. |

NZ Listener - (Keith Stewart) From first sight-light rosy red rather pink-this is real wine. It smells vinous, and suitably grapey, even slightly feral, and offers a good mouthful of wine taste and feel. Round, ripe and fresh, with little nuances of spice-like flavours and an aftertaste that reminds you that this is the real stuff, fading away to dryness. Terrific stuff.
| www.wineoftheweek.com - (Sue Courtney) Light ruby hued with an appealing, pinot noir cherry-influenced fruity aroma and a juicy, fruity taste with an earthy undercurrent to the cherry and crushed strawberry fruit. It finishes dry with a touch of acidity to keep it crisp and fresh. Made from 100% Pinot Noir. 12% alc. | Northern Advocate - (Graeme Barrow) Marlborough, fresh and fruity, with strawberry and toffee aromas and flavours. Dry, with crisp acid finish. Now, two years. $20. | Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to NZ Wines - The excellent 2005 vintage (4 stars) is based entirely on Pinot Noir, handled without oak. Its fresh, strong raspberry and spice flavours are ripe and bone dry, with good acid balance and richness. | |
