| Wine Description |
At the MUD HOUSE, we craft wines
using a combination of technology and traditional winemaking methods with the courage to do things our way. We nurture our vineyards throughout New Zealand so that our grapes reach optimum ripeness, ensuring varietal character and flavour. |
| Tasting Notes |
Colour:
Bright purple red.
Nose:
Dark spiced plum and black olive with notes of cigar box and truffle.
Palate:
Fresh dark cherry and plum flavours combine with fine balance and texture, supple tannins and toasty oak. |
| Winemakers Notes |
Beautifully clean, mature fruit was harvested and brought into the winery where it was destemmed and then put into a fermenter.
The fermentation took 10 days, during which it was plunged 4 times a day to help extract colour, fruit flavour and tannin. The wine then
went through a full MLF and a portion went to oak. |

| Overall the best Merlot in the tasting. This wine has distinct forest floor aromas that succumb to lovely sweet fruit in the palate. The finish is dry and really persistent. Enjoy. |
