Wine Description
Bright pink in colour with an intense nose of sweet berries and cherry develop in the glass with a hint of smoky vanillin. Smooth viscous palate, fresh berries and Turkish delight carry through with crisp acidity giving this wine great summer drinking appeal
Winemakers Notes
The grapes were all hand picked and processed in our Waiheke winery. They were cool fermented in tank and some was partially oak aged. Partial malolactic gives complexity and smoothness to the palate
Viticulture Notes
The 2007 growing season in Hawkes Bay is seen as one of the finest vintages in the past decade. Merlot grapes were delivered to Waiheke from Gimblett Road in perfect condition, plump and fully ripe. The Waiheke component of this wine is based on Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon they add length and complexity of flavour typical of Waiheke fruit
