These varieties were planted for Jo and she continues to be quite smug about how well the wine has performed even in the cooler years like 2003. 2005 had a cooler than usual start, which kept yields low and berry sizes small, despite this we removed half the crop at the beginning of January to ensure even and intense ripening. Marlborough turned on its extraordinary autumn and we finished with one of the most exciting red vintages since 1998. Yields are extremely low but the wines are deep and intense and will age for many years to come. |

Dark deep and solid. Cassis and saddle leather combine with hints of chocolate and a touch of violets on the nose. The palate is rich and opulent with long fine and harmonious tannins. |

Medium-deep red purple colour and showing opulent, ripe fruit characters. Fabulous aromas of ripe blackberries, spice and a touch of dried fruit. The palate is succulent displaying a weighty mid palate, balanced acidity and dark cocoa tannins leaving the palate nice and firm. A bold, sturdy wine that will go beautifully with rich meat dishes. At its best: now to 2010. | |
