True to Stoneleigh’s distinctive style, this classic, flavoursome Pinot Gris captures the essence of Marlborough, New Zealand’s most acclaimed winemaking region. | Winemakers Notes |
Fermentation notes: To retain maximum flavour, the grapes were handled as little as possible and the juice underwent a cool, slow fermentation using yeasts which complement and enhance the fruit characters. Both free run and press fractions were blended to give a balance of freshness and richness. Following fermentation the wine was left on yeast lees for 8 weeks before receiving a light fining and filtering prior to bottling.
Maturation notes: This wine was bottled young to capture the fresh aromatics of Marlborough Pinot Gris.
Other comments: Marlborough is New Zealand’s most acclaimed winemaking region. With its unique combination of infertile and free-draining, stony soils, high annual sunshine hours and a crisp coastal climate, Marlborough has a world-renowned terroir and microclimate.
