| Wine Description |
Unoaked Chardonnay with concentrated citrus and stonefruit characters. Fermentation in stainless steel has preserved these fruit characters and daily lees stirring provides a creamy texture. Fresh fruit flavours, mineral notes and crisp acidity combine to produce a complex, elegant wine with great length and concentration. |
| Tasting Notes |
Fresh and clean, this is the varietal character of Chardonnay unencumbered by oak or malolactic fermentation. Lemon and peach aromas with tropical fruit and floral notes create an attractive nose. On the palate citrus and stonefruit flavours are complemented by subtle yeast derived creaminess. This dry wine is elegant with a crisp acidity that is softened by the creamy texture in the mid palate and has a lovely long finish. |
| Winemakers Notes |
100% fermented in stainless steel tanks with neutral yeast and at low temperatures to retain and emphasise the natural fruit characters produced in the vineyard. Post fermentation the wine was lees stirred in dailiy to add a creamy texture to the palate. In order to preserve the fruit flavours and the crisp fresh nature of the wine, malolactic fermentation was not allowed to occur. |
| Viticulture Notes |
Procuced from a blend of clone six and Mendoza Chardonnay grown on our own Chaytors Road vineyard. Low yields provided intensely flavoured grapes that were harvested in perfect condition. The clone six produces riper flavours at lower suger levels while the Mendoza provides citrus and stonefruit with steely acidity. |
| Cellaring |
This winewill drink wonderfully anytime over the next one to two years. With age the wine will develop lovely toasty notes, we recommend drinking whilst fresh and vibrant. |
