Anchorage Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2006
Produced By Anchorage Wines New Zealand Limited
Wine Description
Hints of oak complement a fruity palate reminiscent of royal gala apples with capsicum and sweet pear aromas, and an elegant mouthfeel.
Tasting Notes
A parcel of fruit from a selected area of 3 and 4-year-old vines in a single vineyard near the mouth of the Motueka River resulted in this elegant wine displaying soft, textural characters with good balance and harmony.
Winemakers Notes
Premium grapes were machine harvested in the early hours of the morning and the fruit trucked to the winery in Marlbrough where it was bag pressed lightly before fermentation with an aromatic yeast strain. Stirred regularly on secondary yeast lees, winemaking also included a slight oak influence. Fermenting temperatrues were kept low during a prolonged period after which a stop ferment process was used to retain the natural residual sugars. The wine was then racked immediately after ferment to remove gross lees and left to settle and harmonize. Cross flow filtration preceded bottling.
