Wine Description
The colour is deep and vibrant. The wine has a black pepper nose and also shows small fruit aromas such as dark berries with spicy undertones. The palate is medium-bodied with fine soft tannins. The wine has good finesse in aroma and structure from the careful oak maturation in French oak.

Winemakers Notes
The fermentation was conducted on the skins, at a peak temperature of 30oC and after fermentation the wine was left to macerate a further 10 days. After maceration it was run off to French oak barriques, 40% new. There have been three rackings since the wine has been in barrel. Part of the wine was aged on lees for 14 months to build the mouth feel and texture of the wine.
Viticulture Notes
This wine is made from hand-harvested grapes grown on our Gimblett Road vineyard in the heart of the Gimblett Gravels with a small portion from our new Mere Rd vineyard. The soils here are amongst the most stony on the gravels. The crop load was limited to 2.5 kilos per vine through spring shoot thinning and summer bunch thinning. The Gimblett block was planted in 1994, and the vine age has made a real contribution to the complexity and finesse of the wine from this year’s vintage.
