Wine Description
This Hawkes Bay Syrah has vibrant spicy berry notes with a rich fruity mid palate. It has been barrel aged creating a long soft palate with classic pepper flavours on the finish.
Winemakers Notes
The grapes were fermented on skins followed by a post fermentation maceration of up to 10 days. Pump overs were carried out once a day to extract colour without extracting hard tannins. The wine was given malo-lactic fermentation then aged in French oak barrels for 6 months to make a soft, rich and fruity style
Viticulture Notes
The grapes for this wine came from various vineyards around the Hawke’s Bay region. The crop loads were kept low to maximise fruit ripeness and quality. The vines were trained the traditional way through vertical shoot positioning. Good vine management and warm summer weather ensured ripe, soft tannins and good fruit intensity in the berries.
Cellaring
This wine has sufficient tannin and fruit to cellar for 3-5 years if stored correctly.
