Omaka Springs Merlot 2006
Produced By Omaka Springs Estates Ltd
Wine Description
Deep ruby red in colour with a splash of purple. Plummy with black current undertones on the palate. A very concentrated supple wine.
Tasting Notes
The 2006 Merlot is a deep ruby red wine with berries and cedar undertones on the nose. It is well structured, with light tannins and a good length on the plate. This wine has been unfiltered to enhance the fruit flavours.
Winemakers Notes
The grapes were hand picked on a cold crisp April
morning when the fruit was fully ripe. After fermentation on skins for three week. The wine was then transfered to American oak barriques for 8 months.

BEST BUY: Its a bit green in the bouquet and one panellist described the flavour profile as flabby, but for all that this red has a certain appeal - and its very well priced.
